Jerome Sinclair is the youngest player to have ever debuted for Liverpool, but his life has taken a turn that no one could have foreseen a decade ago.
The 26-year-old was once destined to be the new Raheem Sterling, making his official debut for the Reds at the age of 16 years and six days on September 26, 2012, in a 2-1 win against West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup.
Brendan Rodgers decided to bring him off the bench to replace Samed Yeil. On that day, Sinclair overtook Jack Robinson as the youngest player to have ever played for Liverpool.
Jerome Sinclair’s erratic career
After his debut, Sinclair continued to shine at Liverpool‘s youth team. He made five appearances with the seniors before being loaned out and netted only once for the Reds.
His goal came under Jurgen Klopp in the 2015/16 season during an FA Cup duel against Exeter. Sinclair had to wait until March 2015 to make his Premier League debut, and he did so during his loan spell at Wigan Athletic.
In 2016, Sinclair signed for Watford and made 12 appearances before being eventually loaned out to Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City, Sunderland, Oxford United, VVV-Venlo and CSKA Sofia.
Jerome Sinclair the fried chicken restaurant owner
After spending a year without playing for any team, Sinclair returned to training at Oxford United but his career as a professional footballer was practically over due to a series of injuries and bad decisions.
In July 2022, Sinclair became the owner of a Birmingham branch of fried chicken shop chain Morley’s.
“Morley’s coming to Birmingham this month,” the company announced.
“We’re Loading! Welcome to the Morley’s Family Jerome Sinclair.”
