The British newspaper notes that Greenwood, who is 21 and is expecting a child with his partner, “has grown his hair long since he was last photographed and was not wearing Nike boots after the firm terminated its sponsorship deal”.
Manchester United considering giving Greenwood a second chance
Manchester United have yet to make a decision on the future of Greenwood, a player who was valued at 60 million euros and who has been on the sidelines since his arrest.
The Sun reports that manager Erik ten Hag and most of the first-team players are willing to give him a second chance.
“Like it or not Mason Greenwood wants to play football again. It’s what he does best and it’s the only way he can successfully rebuild his life. He is fed up of waiting and he and his team are now waiting for an answer one way or another from United,” explained a source close to Greenwood consulted by the British tabloid.
The fallout from the rape allegations against Mason Greenwood
Mason Greenwood, who last played for Manchester United in the Premier League on January 22, 2022, saw the Old Trafford team cut him off, his teammates unfollow him on social media and companies like Nike or EA Sports (decided to remove Greenwood‘s name from FIFA 22) also severed their commercial relationships with him.
“Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind. As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train or play for the club until further notice,” Manchester United said in a statement.
