Leeds United have confirmed the signing of 24-year-old American midfielder Weston McKennie, who previously played for Juventus, on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.
McKennie came to European football with German club Schalke 04, where he made 91 appearances before joining Juventus. A Dallas product, he has now joined Leeds United in the Premier League, where he will be coached by countryman Jesse Marsh and partnered by compatriots Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.
But a funny anecdote came at his unveiling when McKennie recorded a video while preparing where at dressing room level he recounted a special anecdote with Cristiano Ronaldo from their days as teammates at Juventus.
“A story with Ronaldo, he was getting a massage and I was walking around and I said ‘my God, your feet look terrible!’ and he said ‘my friend, these feet are worth a billion euros’,” McKennie recalled.
“I replied ‘you’re right, respect’,” the American midfielder laughingly confessed.
