The leaks are leaking as Season 18 of Apex Legends rolls onward, providing plenty of hints of what we can expect to see in the battle royale during its next season.
One of these leaks has caught plenty of attention; once-axed legend Conduit has apparently been given a second chance and is allegedly coming to the game next season, though she’s kind of wibbly in terms of lore, name, and appearance right now.
So who is this mysterious, supposed new addition to Apex? Here’s what we know about who Conduit used to be, and who she seems to be shaping up to be in Season 18.
All leaked Conduit abilities in Apex Legends
Most of what we know about Conduit’s potential abilities are a combination from the huge future legends leak from over a year ago, and leaks one month before Season 19’s release. As such, all of these abilities are subject to change. While the first leak nailed Newcastle’s abilities and got most of Vantage’s kit correct, legends like Catalyst and Ballistic both changed significantly from what was shown in the leak.
As we get closer to Season 19’s release date, more leaks have continued to surface, bringing more evidence to Conduit’s release kit, with some abilities staying the same after the initial leak, or completely changing in all aspects. What we know about Conduit from that leak is that they’re all about shields.
Passive: Capacitance
Conduit’s leaked passive is Capacitance, which gives her a 40 percent speed boost when her teammates are out of range of her Tactical ability range. This speed boost matches Octane’s speed when he uses Stim, and has the potential to be very powerful in following up on teammates with movement abilities like Pathfinder’s Grapple without falling behind. Currently, there has been no information on if the Passive has an unlimited range, or if it stays active while her Tactical is down, limitations which would keep it in line with other movement passives like Bangalore’s Double Time, which only activates situationally.
Tactical: Arc Flash
Arc Flash would allow Conduit to heal the shields of her allies, healing 25 shields per cast, with multiple charges, making Conduit the only legend with a direct healing ability in the game. Previous leaks had this shield heal come from Conduit’s own shields, making the ability high risk, high reward for what will probably be a split-second decision to use it in many fights. Whether this feature still exists in Conduit’s latest build is a mystery until more information leaks or her gameplay trailer comes out.
Ultimate: Alternating Current
The latest leaks have Conduit putting down a row of Titan batteries from the Titanfall series, making an indestructible wall that deters enemies from passing through them, shocking, damaging, and slowing enemies like Wattson fences if they touch the Ultimate.
Current leaks have not pointed out if Conduit will be informed when an enemy is damaged by these traps like Wattson, however.
Titanfall 2 veterans can compare this to the Ion Titan’s Tripwire ability, which served the same function in locking down areas of the map and forcing enemies to find an alternate route, or take significant damage if they push through the trap.
All leaked Conduit lore in Apex Legends
Conduit’s name first showed up in a leak from 2019. Fans initially theorized Conduit would be Crypto’s sister, but that no longer seems to be the case. Another popular theory has been Catalyst’s friend Margo (featured in the former’s Stories from the Outlands short) would turn out to be Conduit, mostly due to the similar lightning pattern the two share under their eyes.
The next round of leaks came in Sept. 2023, as well-regarded Apex leaker ThordanSmash reported on leaks that Conduit is actually the daughter of Lifeline and Octane who has traveled back in time from 20 years into the future. He noted time travel already textually exists in the Titanfall universe, which therefore means it would in Apex as well.
Horizon is trying to time travel to reunite with her son, so it’s definitely not outside the realm of possibility, but this leak has come underneath the most fire from other Apex data miners and leakers for its credibility, and could be a deliberate misdirection from Respawn to keep Conduit’s true lore a mystery until release.
The first direct confirmation of Conduit’s existence from Respawn came in a teaser for her Stories from the Outlands episode. The included picture shows a group text between Conduit and her family congratulating her for winning the right to participate in the Apex Games in Tagalog, revealing her ethnicity as the first Filipino legend in Apex.
Although Conduit may be the first legend hailing from the Philippines, she would not be the first Filipino character in the Titanfall universe. Tai Lastimosa, the mentor of Titanfall 2 campaign’s main character Jack Cooper and original owner of BT-7274, famously served as the only known Filipino representative, but could potentially be connected to Conduit’s own family, likely as an ancestor or family friend.
Additional information from notable Apex Legends leaker Osvaldatore also reveals parts of Conduit’s personality and design. Her real name is Rowenna, and is 27 years old at the time of her recruitment to the Apex Games. Her outfit will feature blue and yellow colors, with armor made from a Titan, similar to how Valkyrie’s VTOL Jets come from her late father’s Northstar kit. Her personality is apparently a mixture of Lifeline, Rampart, and Horizon, and is a big Seer fan when watching the Apex games.
All that said, none of the information above is confirmed, so take these insights with a grain of salt, as the details could change, or be a bamboozle similar to Revenant’s debut in the game and Respawn’s infamous Forge misdirection.
Fans excited for Conduit’s first reveal and the actual lore behind her character can find out in her SFTO episode, which premiers worldwide on Oct. 19 at 10am CT.
