No. 22 Oklahoma State earned a 27-24 win over No. 9 Oklahoma Saturday in what stands as the final Bedlam matchup for the foreseeable future. In a game that featured three touchdowns of 20-plus yards, it’s Oklahoma State’s defense that deserves credit for the win.
The Cowboys held the Sooners to just one touchdown in the second half while pulling ahead thanks to some tough running by Ollie Gordon, who finished the game with 33 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Oklahoma had the ball with 1:53 to play in the fourth quarter and even got near midfield before OSU was able to pin its ears back. The Sooners failed to convert on fourth-and-5 with Oklahoma State smothering a pass short of the sticks, and the Cowboys were able to kneel the clock out from there.
- Saturday marked Gordon’s sixth straight game with at least 100 yards rushing. He has averaged at least 4 yards per carry in that span as well.
- Oklahoma State has just two wins in the series since 2015, but both of those came at home in Stillwater. The Cowboys can also say they have a 2-1 record in the last three installments of Bedlam … for now.
- With the win, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy picked up his 100th Big 12 victory. Safe to say he’s going to remember this one for a while.
