Last week, LeBron James enhanced his already impressive basketball resume by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading career scorer.
The excitement and emotion that surrounded him breaking that record may have subsided, but the accolades have not.
James missed the Lakers’ next three games due to a painful left foot ailment, and they clearly missed him, as they lost two of them to the Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers.
But he was back on Wednesday, and although he had a lackluster game, he helped L.A. defeat the New Orleans Pelicans, 120-102.
With the All-Star game ahead, James will be one of the co-captains of the league’s midseason classic, and it will reportedly honor him claiming its all-time scoring record at halftime of the contest (h/t Lakers Daily).
When James makes his way onto the court at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City this Sunday, he will break another one of Abdul-Jabbar’s records — this one for the most All-Star game appearances at 19.
The legendary Lakers center was also selected to the All-Star team 19 times, but he didn’t appear in the 1973 game.
