Jul. 2—Boscawen’s Andrew Surpenant overtook Charlie Martin for the lead in the boys division of the New Hampshire Junior Championship on Tuesday at Mount Washington Resort and Golf Club.
Suprenant, 18, shot a 1-under 71 in the second round and leads Martin, of Wolfeboro, by three strokes entering today’s final round at Mount Washington.
Surpenant, a Merrimack Valley High School graduate, birdied the sixth, 10th, 11th and 18th holes to offset a double bogey on the third hole and a bogey on Hole No. 14.
Martin, 15, shot a 3-over 75 on Tuesday after his 1-under 69 in the first round on Monday at Cochecho Country Club in Dover that gave him a one-stroke lead on Suprenant.
Martin, a Brewster Academy student, posted three birdies but got into trouble on the back nine, logging consecutive bogeys on Hole Nos. 14-16 and a double bogey on the 18th hole.
Franklin’s Mady Savary leads the girls division by seven strokes after her four-over 76 on Tuesday. Savary also led the field after the first round on Monday, when she shot a 5-over 77.
Delaney Nadeau, of Lee, is in second place after her 5-over 77 score on Tuesday. Her sister, Teagan, is two strokes behind her with a 16-over 162 after the opening two rounds.

Sam Maurice, an Auburn resident and Trinity High School student, leads the boys field in the Junior Stroke Play Championship, which is determined by Junior Championship scores from Tuesday and Wednesday. Maurice shot a 4-under 68 on Tuesday that included three birdies on the front nine. Salem’s William Miele stands in second place after his 3-under 69 and Surprenant rounds out the top three.
Delaney Nadeau leads the girls stroke play division and Savary is one stroke behind. Naw Whar, an 11-year-old Hampton resident, is in third place after her 11-over 83 on Tuesday.
