In his first All-Star Game appearance as a member of the Yankees, Juan Soto got the American League on the board in the third inning with a two-run hustle double off Logan Webb.
With runners on second and third and one out and the AL All-Stars down 3-0, Soto wasted no time against Webb and smacked a base hit up the middle on the first pitch he saw that drove in two to make it 3-2. Soto took advantage of Teoscar Hernandez not getting to the ball quickly in center field and legged out a double.
Later in the inning, Soto scored the tying run on David Fry‘s RBI single. The 25-year-old batting in the three hole finished 1-for-1 as he walked against rookie sensation Paul Skenes in the first inning.
Behind Soto in the order was Aaron Judge who finished 0-for-2, including a grounder to third base on the first pitch he saw against Skenes after Soto got on base in front of him. Judge then grounded out to third base again in the third inning.
