The NASCAR Cup Series race weekend at Michigan begins Saturday with practice and qualifying at the 2-mile track.
Last week, Austin Dillon was stripped of his automatic playoff berth via the win at Richmond on Sunday after wrecking Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano in the final lap. The landmark penalty handed down by NASCAR is being appealed by RCR, but a clear message has been sent to the garage area as to the limits of how one is supposed to race for the win.
Michigan will be a change of pace compared to Richmond, with much higher speeds and a wide track featuring multiple lanes. Last year, Chris Buescher broke up Kevin Harvick’s dominance at the track by earning his second win of 2023.
Here is what you need to know about NASCAR Cup qualifying in Richmond.
