The NASCAR Cup Series is back at the Daytona International Speedway for the penultimate race of the 2024 regular season on Saturday.
Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 will be the last serious opportunity for a large portion of the field to make the playoffs via a win. In recent years, this has been the final race of the regular season. But with the Olympic break shuffling the schedule, next week’s Southern 500 at Darlington is the regular season finale. It won’t be easy.
Austin Dillon and William Byron have won the summer race at Daytona to make the playoffs in recent seasons, so it has proven out as a wild-card race. Ross Chastain, Chris Buescher and Bubba Wallace won’t want to see a new winner in victory lane unless they do it for themselves.
Cup qualifying and a one-day show for the Xfinity Series will take place at Daytona International Speedway on Friday. The Truck Series playoffs also begin this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile with the 175-mile race set for Sunday.
