The “big one” came in the second stage Saturday night in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series Race at Daytona International Speedway when Corey LaJoie gave Noah Gragson a bad push on Lap 61 in the 160-lap race.
LaJoie shoved Gragson on Gragson’s left rear and and into the wall. Gragson attempted to correct it and came back across the track in front of LaJoie and into the infield. Gragson was running 14th and LaJoie was 15th at the time.
The incident started a 17-car crash.
Along with Gragson and LaJoie, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, Ross Chastain, Austin Dillon and Kyle Larson were knocked out of the race.
Others involved but able to remain in the race: Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr., Christopher Bell, William Byron, Daniel Hemric, Ryan Preece, John Hunter Nemechek, Erik Jones, Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman.
