Rabbi Matondo is “one of, if not the most frustrating player in the league,” according to Marvin Bartley.
The Wales international delivered a superb individual performance in Rangers’ rampant showing against Ross County – scoring twice and adding two assists – but Bartley doesn’t think he puts in such impactful displays often enough.
“Matondo is probably one of the most frustrating players, if not the most frustrating player in the league because on his day, he can do what he did at the weekend, and then far too often we see him not perform anyway near that level,” Bartley said on the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast.
“He’s a player with potential, but he needs to somehow find a way to take games by the scruff of the neck like he did against County.”
Matondo wasn’t the only one who starred in the thrashing of County, with many top performances from Philippe Clement’s side. Bartley believes it came at the “perfect time” before next weekend’s Old Firm derby.
“It was a perfect time and for Rangers going into obviously the massive game coming up on Sunday,” he added.
“They’ll be delighted with that, the fans will be delighted and they’ll be in a buoyant mood now.
“Training this week I’m sure will be a much higher level than it has been when they have been scraping through games, but they’re going have to be at that level again, if not better, to try and get anything against a rampant Celtic.”
