The long-rumored return of Verdansk is finally real. Call of Duty: Warzone’s OG map will be coming back some time in 2025, Activision confirmed today.
The original map is a source of major nostalgia for many players who first fell in love with Warzone when it launched in March 2020. This March marks five years of Warzone, so Verdansk is coming back for the occasion.
The news was just confirmed at Call of Duty Next to much joy among BR players who have never been able to find the same joy that they did in Verdansk with other BR maps like Caldera, Al Mazrah, and Urzikstan.
The hope is that Verdansk will reignite the love of Warzone and bring back the feeling of 2020 that everyone had while dropping in to a new experience for the first time, staying in touch with friends, and making new friends while everyone was stuck at home during COVID-19 quarantine.
Warzone will also be getting a new Resurgence map, Area 99, which is “the birthplace of Nuketown.” It was shown off by content creators at CoD Next today, featuring fun Easter eggs about the fan-favorite multiplayer map.
BO6’s integration into Warzone, along with Area 99, will come at the launch of season one for Black Ops 6. This includes omnimovement, a new inventory system similar to the original game’s, plus a whole slew of new weapons, operators, and other features like infinite sprint while holding a melee weapon.
CoD: BO6 launches later this year on Oct. 25, and season one should come some time in early December.
This is a breaking news story. It’s currently being written in real time.
