Dover Motor Speedway will go back in time for its 2025 NASCAR races.
For the first time since Richard Petty won Dover’s inaugural Mason-Dixon 300 NASCAR event on July 6, 1969, fans can enjoy the racing circuit making a summer stop in the First State.
NASCAR did hold races at Dover in August of 2020, though those had been rescheduled from other dates due to COVID-19 with no fans present.
In 2025, a July 20 NASCAR Cup Series event will culminate three days of racing beginning with the General Tire ARCA Menards Series race on Friday, July 18, and the BetRivers 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday, July 19.
Dover’s Cup Series event will be the fourth of five races in what NASCAR is calling an in-season, bracket-style tournament in which the winning driver pockets $1 million.
Tickets are already on sale at www.dovermotorspeedway.com.
The Monster Mile had been the site of two NASCAR races annually in the spring and fall from 1971 through 2019 but has had just one race in the spring since 2021.
“In addition to the non-stop action that always takes place on the track, our summer race weekend will allow us to expand on the entertainment and activities that contribute to what is now a must-stop event for all NASCAR fans,” Mike Tatoian, Dover Motor Speedway president and general manager, said in the track’s announcement.
“We are coming off of one of the most successful race weekends in recent years and now that we have a summer date, we have already locked in some amazing new fun.”
