The Mets promoted shortstop Jett Williams to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.
After a rocky year for the 20-year-old, he will be rewarded by getting his first experience at Triple-A for the final six games of their season.
Williams, who returned to Double-A Binghamton off the injured list in late August, will take Luisangel Acuna’s spot at Syracuse after he was called up the big leagues with Francisco Lindor having back issues.
The Mets’ No. 1 prospect according to Joe DeMayo’s latest ranking, the shortstop lost most of this year to a wrist injury in April that eventually required surgery in June.
He has struggled in his first 10 games back at Double-A, with eight hits in 44 at-bats (.182) with 20 strikeouts and one walk.
On the year, Williams has 18 hits in 95 at-bats (.190) with four doubles, a triple and three RBI in 26 games across Double-A and Single-A St. Lucie for a .571 OPS.
