Filip Chytil briefly left the Rangers’ preseason game against the Islanders on Tuesday night after taking a knee-to-knee open ice hit from defenseman Scott Mayfield.
Chytil remained down on the ice for quite some time and he needed assistance from teammates as was unable to put any weight on his leg heading off to the locker room.
Luckily, though, it appears that the youngster was able to avoid the worst as he returned to the bench and took his next few shifts after missing just a couple of minutes of action.
That’s certainly a huge sigh of relief for Chytil and the Rangers, as he has been hampered by the injury bug throughout the first few years of his NHL career.
After missing most of last season due to an upper-body injury, Chytil has come into camp with no restrictions and he’s been flying around the ice, recording seven shots on goal over the first two preseason games.
