Beck committed to Alabama on June 26, 2018, but started to reconsider after offensive coordinator Mike Locksley left for Maryland and quarterbacks coach Dan Enos left town for Miami after the Crimson Tide’s loss to Clemson in the 2019 national championship game. He decommitted on Feb. 4, 2019, received an offer from Georgia three weeks later and committed to the Bulldogs on March 3.
“I always wanted to play at Georgia,” Beck said after flipping to Georgia. ” I liked Alabama, but whenever all the offensive staff started leaving, I was like, ‘I have no one to talk to. I don’t know any of these guys. I really don’t have a relationship with them.'”
Beck won two championships as a backup to Stetson Bennett IV at Georgia in 2021 and 2022 and is in the midst of his second year as a starter with the Bulldogs. He threw for 439 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions in a loss at Alabama in Week 5, dropping his record to 0-2 against the Crimson Tide as a starter.
