The 2027 Champions League Final will not be hosted by an Italian stadium after San Siro had its rights revoked and the Stadio Olimpico withdrew.
One of the biggest matches in the football calendar had been set to light up the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan in May 2027.
However, the hosting rights were revoked because of the on-going uncertainty over the status of the arena, as Milan and Inter are back in negotiations to build a new stadium effectively in the car park of the current venue.
With that in mind and potential work going on, UEFA could not get the necessary guarantees from the local authorities to assign the Final to them.
Italy loses Champions League rights
The Stadio Olimpico in Rome had been put forward as a potential replacement, but UEFA confirmed today that it was withdrawn.
Instead, the 2027 Champions League Final will either be at the Stadio Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid or the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan.
The host will be confirmed by May 2025.
