No. 19 Ole Miss still has a path to the College Football Playoff, but it has narrowed in recent weeks. The Rebels will have to pass a tough road test against Arkansas in order to keep its resume in tact as the regular season nears its end.
The Rebels entered the season with high expectations, but they’ve already suffered two SEC losses with a couple difficult tests still on the horizon. That makes this weekend’s matchup against Arkansas vitally important for Ole Miss, which just defeated Oklahoma in Oxford.
Ole Miss struggled to run the ball in that win over the Sooners, but quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for 311 yards and a touchdown. Dart may need another great showing against Arkansas if the Rebels can’t get anything going on the ground again.
The x-factor in this matchup might be Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green, who has flashed some dynamic ability this season. Last week, Green totaled 393 yards and six total touchdowns in a 58-25 win over Mississippi State, and he has the potential to give the Rebels’ defense serious problems.
The Arkansas defense will need to step up against Dart after surrendering 471 yards to the Bulldogs last weekend.
