The Yankees have added a pair of depth pieces, bringing in infielder Pablo Reyes and right-hander Cristian Hernandez on minor league deals.
Reyes enjoyed some success two years ago playing for the Boston Red Sox, but he spent the majority of his time last season with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets, where he tied his career-high with 11 homers and posted a .864 OPS.
The veteran is mainly known for his stellar glove and defensive versatility, having logged an appearance at every position except pitcher and catcher during his career.
Hernandez is yet to pitch above the Double-A level, but he put together a strong season, pitching to a 3.50 ERA and 1.17 WHIP while striking out 57 batters and walking 13 across 40 appearances in the Phillies organization.
The 24-year-old originally came up as a starting pitcher before transitioning to the bullpen, so he could potentially serve as a future swing-man.
