This was already Michkov’s third career overtime goal. According to NHL Public Relations, Michkov has tied Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby and former NHL stars Rick Nash and Ilya Kovalchuk for the most overtime goals by a teenager in league history. It took Michkov only 23 games to reach this accomplishment.
Per NHL PR, Michkov also became the fourth teenager in Flyers history to have at least three game-winning goals in one season, joining Danius Zubrus (five), Sean Couturier (four), and Mike Ricci (four).
Michkov turns 20 on Dec. 9, and the Flyers have three more games before then. It will be fascinating to see if he can pass Crosby, Nash, and Kovalchuk by scoring one more overtime winner from here.
