NHL insider Elliotte Friedman recently reported that teams are calling the Buffalo Sabres about Dylan Cozens and that he’s “legitimately wanted.”
With Cozens generating a high level of interest around the league, let’s discuss three teams that could make sense as possible landing spots for the skilled forward if he is officially made available.
Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames would likely love to get their hands on Cozens. It is no secret that GM Craig Conroy wants to add a top-six, right-shot center, and Cozens fits that description.
The Flames could also be drawn to Cozens because he is young and under contract until the end of the 2029-30 season. Thus, he could be a perfect target for a retooling club like the Flames.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers must add a top-six center to give Matvei Michkov and their other forwards more support. Thus, they are naturally a team that comes to mind when it comes to Cozens’ market.
Furthermore, at 23 years old, Cozens would have the potential to fit in beautifully with the rising Flyers’ core if acquired.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are among the many NHL clubs aiming to add a top center. It is clear that they could use another skilled center to support superstar Connor Bedard, so Cozens could grab their attention.
While the Blackhawks are rebuilding, they could be willing to make a big swing for a young player with plenty of term like Cozens. Thus, they are another potential suitor to keep an eye on.
