Max Lee wins 2024 LIV Golf Promotions event, earns lone spot on LIV Golf in 2025

For Chieh-po Lee, Saturday was some of the best golf he has played in his life.

The 30-year-old from Chinese Taipei, who goes by the English name Max, won the 2024 LIV Golf Promotions event at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia, claiming the lone spot up for grabs on LIV Golf for the 2025 season. Lee shot 10 under over the 36-hole marathon, topping Taichi Kho and relegated LIV Golf player Branden Grace for the win.

Only 20 players advanced to the final round. The week started with 93 players in the field. Last year, three players earned spots on LIV Golf at the promotions event, but this year, only the winner was moving on.

“It means a lot for our players,” Lee, who plays mainly on the Asian Tour, said. “LIV Golf, I think it’s many players’ dream. I go there, and they will come.”

Lee opened in 7-under 64 in the morning, including nine birdies, to lead by one over former world No. 1 amateur Ollie Schniederjans. That advantage allowed Lee to cruise into the afternoon, where a 3-under 69 secured his spot as a wildcard player for LIV Golf in 2025.

Those who finished in the top 10 earned full status on the Asian Tour in 2025. Those finishers include Schniederjans, Brett Coletta, Jack Buchanan, Max Rottluff, Soomin Lee and David Horsey.

Although Grace was relegated from his team Stinger GC, he could still be signed during free agency.

“Played good, gave it everything,” Grace said. “It was a good go. Now I’ll go home and have a holiday.”
