Head coach Bruce Cassidy became the winningest head coach in Vegas Golden Knights history with a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
The win marked Cassidy’s 119th win with the Golden Knights, overtaking Gerard Gallant, who was the team’s first head coach. Gallant won 118 regular-season games, including a run to the Stanley Cup finals in the inaugural season. Cassidy is the third coach in Golden Knights history, the second being Dallas Stars’ current HC Peter DeBoer.
Not only has Cassidy become the winningest head coach in franchise history and the head coach who brought a Stanley Cup to Vegas, but Cassidy has the highest point percentage out of the three coaches and has the best playoff win percentage of the three.
The 59-year-old’s arrival came immediately after he was relieved of his duties by the Boston Bruins. He joined the Golden Knights and helped shift the culture. They became a team that could lock down games while not sacrificing too much offence where the team can’t generate enough chances to score.
He’s helping Jack Eichel continue to reach his true potential and has turned him into a two-way centre and a possible Hart Trophy finalist.

“Well, it sounds like money on the board next game for sure, to start off,” said Keegan Kolesar who’s on pace to set career-highs in goals and points. “He holds us to a high standard, and it’s every day, and that’s what we need as a group. I think we have a very good group here, just as humans. Like I said before, maybe sometimes complacency can slip in, and he does a good job of keeping that out of our game.”
Cassidy’s philosophies and coaching style have earned him assistant coaching roles with Canada, the Louis A. R. Pieri Memorial Award for AHL Coach of the Year and the Jack Adams Award for NHL Coach of the Year.
The most successful coach in Golden Knights history shows no signs of slowing down and has the Golden Knights on pace to win the Pacific Division and possibly go on a long playoff run.
