Amateur golf is in full swing to begin 2025, and one of the biggest events of the year is here.
The 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship begins Thursday in Argentina, and there’s plenty on the line for more than 100 of the top amateurs from across Latin America. An invitation to the Masters. Spots in the field at the U.S. Open and Open Championship. Exemptions into more of the top amateur events around the globe.
There are 83 players in the field this week who played last year while 25 are making their debut in the championship.

Where is the Latin America Amateur Championship 2025?
Pilar Golf Club in Argentina is hosting the LAAC in 2025. The course will play as a par 72 measuring 7,308 yards. The course opened in 1992 and designed by the Ronald Fream Group. The course hosted the inaugural Latin America Amateur Championship and has hosted multiple editions of the Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship. It is also home of the Argentina Golf Association.
How to watch the Latin America Amateur Championship 2025
On Thursday and Friday, coverage will be live on ESPN’s networks from 1-4 p.m. ET, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday. A 30-minute wrap-up highlight show will also be produced after the conclusion of the final round. In addition to broadcasters around the world, the entire broadcast will be simulcast on LAACGolf. com.
Latin America Amateur Championship format
The championship format is 72 holes of stroke play with a cut taking place after 36 holes for the top 50 players plus ties. In the event of a tie after 72 holes, the winner is decided by a sudden-death playoff.
What does a player get for winning the Latin America Amateur Championship?
The winner will receive an invitation into the 2025 Masters and exemptions into the 2025 Open Championship, the 2025 U.S. Open, the 2025 Amateur Championship and the 2025 U.S. Amateur; the runner(s)-up will receive an exemption into final qualifying for the 2025 Open Championship and the 2025 U.S. Open, and the runner-up and third-place finisher will receive an exemption into the Amateur Championship.
Latin America Amateur Championship 2025 field
The field at Pilar Golf Club is 108 players and a collection of the top male amateurs in Latin America representing the 29 IOC-recognized countries and territories from the region that are current members of the International Golf Federation. Omar Morales, a senior at UCLA, is the top-ranked player in the field at 13th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. The youngest player is 15-year-old Santiago Villegas of Ecuador, and the oldest is 56-year-old Alvaro Ortiz of Costa Rica.
