There was a recent report that the former Wild defenseman John Klingberg was nearing a return to the NHL or seeking a return following his recent injury.
Klingberg, 32, recovered from his hip resurfacing surgery that he had in 2023 and has now signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

The Wild acquired Klingberg from the Anaheim Ducks at the 2023 trade deadline. They traded a 2025 4th round draft pick, Nikita Nesterenko and Andrej Sustr to Anaheim for the right-shot defenseman.
He recorded nine points in 17 games to finish the 2022-23 season and recorded one goal and four points in four playoff games with the Wild.
Minnesota did not sign him after the season and let him walk. Klingberg signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played 14 games with the Leafs before he got hurt.
