Ivory Coast international winger Wilfried Zaha (32) has left Ligue 1 side Lyon to sign for MLS franchise Charlotte FC on loan from Galatasaray, all three clubs have announced. Zaha was a surprise signing from Les Gones, joining Pierre Sage’s squad in the final hours of the summer transfer window on loan from Süper Lig giants Galatasaray. The former Crystal Palace FC talisman never really settled in France. Zaha only played six games for Olympique Lyonnais. He logged only one goal contribution, assisting Saïd Benrahma during Lyon’s 2-0 Europa League win against Olympiacos.

Zaha hasn’t featured for Lyon since early December. L’Equipe reported that Lyon, looking to raise funds this January to avoid a punitive relegation to Ligue 2, will receive some funds from Galatasaray having seen Zaha’s stint at Lyon cut short. Galatasaray have allowed Zaha to join Charlotte FC on loan for a year until January 17, 2026, with an option to extend the loan through June 30, 2026.
