They say the North course is the easier of the two at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open. So far in 2025, that appears to be true once again, as only eight golfers in the top 28 are 4 under or better after 18 holes played the South course during Wednesday’s opening round.
Ludvig Aberg leads the tournament by two shots after his 9-under 63 on the North. In a tie for second-two shots back, is Danny Walker, who posted the best South score Wednesday.
After there were 11 pre-tournament withdrawals, a pair of alternates are making the most of things so far in La Jolla, including one who is tied for second after 18 holes.
Jason Day, meanwhile, had what turned out to be a most uneventful day but also, for him, a rare one. He had a birdie- and eagle-free 2-over 74, marking just the 17th time in nearly 19 years on the PGA Tour that his signed a scorecard that didn’t feature anything better than par.
The only Wednesday-to-Saturday event on the PGA Tour schedule is being played this week at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open.
Torrey Pines, a City of San Diego municipal facility, has two courses, the North and the South. Each golfer will play one round on each course over the first two days. After the 36-hole cut, the action will take place on the South, which is ranked No. 42 on Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play 2024: Top 100 U.S. public-access courses. Also, the South ranks fourth and the North is 11th on the Golfweek’s Best public-access courses in California.
Here’s a look at Thursday’s second round tee times, as well as TV information. All times listed are ET, three hours ahead of local time in San Diego.
