Former Texas golfer Scottie Scheffler has a life lesson for all potential pasta makers out there — beware of wine glasses.
The No. 1 player in the world, Scheffler underwent surgery and took a hiatus from golf after the broken stem of a wine glass stabbed him in the hand, according to the Athletic. The Texas-ex was attempting to roll out and shape his pasta dough with the wine glass. Scheffler says he does not expect any long-term damage from the incident.
“I had my hand on top of it and it broke, which, side note, I’ve heard nothing but horror stories since this happened about wine glasses, so be careful,” Scheffler said in the article.
The injury forced Scheffler to miss the Sentry in Maui and the American Express in Palm Springs, his first two tournaments of the season. He spent his time recovering by analyzing his historic 2024 season, which included seven wins on the PGA Tour, the most since Tigers Woods’ 2007 season.
His highlights included his second win at the Masters Tournament and a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Scheffler was also subject to controversy during the PGA Championship after being arrested while on his way to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, May 17. The charges were eventually dropped.
