Some of the world’s best drivers will be making their way to the NASCAR Cup Series race weekend at Circuit of the Americas.
A special event on Friday will add to the draw of the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix COTA NASCAR race weekend.
Here’s what to know about the Friday events during the COTA NASCAR race weekend.
What to know about NASCAR Friday event at COTA
The NASCAR Xfinity Series will have a full practice and qualifying day to set the field for the Focused Health 250. The NASCAR Xfinity Series practice session is set for 4 p.m. and will be 50 minutes. The practice session leads directly into qualifying at 5 p.m. with two groups of drivers qualifying for the Saturday race.
In addition, fans will get to see practice and qualifying for the IMSA-sanctioned VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. There are two practice sessions, set for noon and 2 p.m., each lasting an hour. There will be qualifying sessions for two different classes starting at 6:30 p.m., each lasting around 15 minutes.
The races for the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge are set for 8:40 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the first race running 40 minutes and the second race running 45 minutes.

When is COTA NASCAR race?
The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix is set for 2:30 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 2 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Fans not able to attend the race can catch the action on FOX with Mike Joy, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick in the broadcast booth.
The Focused Health 250 is set for 1:30 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, March 1, and will be broadcast on The CW.

Kyle Larson won last year’s Focused Health 250 for Hendrick Motorsports by scoring a last-lap pass against Shane van Gisbergen and holding off Austin Hill to claim the checkered flag.
Who won 2024 COTA NASCAR race?
William Byron won last year’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix for Hendrick Motorsports, holding off Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell in the closing laps. The win was the second of three for Byron, who also won the 2024 Daytona 500.
