Mitchell Robinson took a big step in his recovery on Monday.
The Knicks’ big man has officially been cleared for contact, head coach Tom Thibodeau said.
Robinson still hasn’t been cleared for full practices just yet, however — he’ll need to get through a couple more steps before participating in 5-on-5 scrimmages with contact.
Still, this is certainly encouraging news, as the team has been taking things very slowly to this point.
Robinson has yet to appear in a game this season after undergoing ankle surgery in late May on an injury that occurred during New York’s postseason run last year.
If he can avoid further setbacks, the 26-year-old should be a key reserve or an intriguing trade chip for the Knicks ahead of the deadline later this week.
Either way, Robinson certainly seems fired up about the good news…
