PALM BEACH GARDENS — Four local favorites have committed to the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches.
Jupiter’s Rickie Fowler, Daniel Berger and Camilo Villegas, along with Delray Beach’s Gary Woodland, will return to the tournament held at PGA National, it was announced Tuesday.
Villegas will make his 19th start in the event formerly known as the Honda Classic, having played every year since 2006 with the exception of 2019. Fowler tees it up for the 15th time, Woodland is making his 11th appearance and Berger returns for the ninth time.
Villegas (2010) and Fowler (2017) have won the tournament while Berger (2015) and Woodland (2017) each have a runner-up finish.

“We’re excited to welcome back these four talented players to PGA National and experience the new-look to the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches,” executive director Todd Fleming said. “Rickie, Gary, Daniel and Camilo are hometown favorites who will no doubt generate exciting moments for our local fans during tournament week.”
Defending champion Austin Eckroat, Shane Lowry of Jupiter, Sepp Straka, Nick Taylor and Min Woo Lee are among those who have committed.
More names will be released in the coming weeks with 14 of the top 50 in the world already committed.
The tournament is in its second year with Cognizant as the title sponsor and with the PGA Tour’s Championship Management division operating the event.
