Starting with tonight’s Daytona 500 qualifying, every lap counts from now until November.
By night’s end, we’ll know which two drivers and cars will command the front row and lead the field to NASCAR’s ultimate green flag — the start of a brand new season as well as Go-Time for the Great American Race, the 67th Daytona 500.
The 45 teams got things going this morning with a 50-minute practice session, followed by several hours of the annual preseason Media Day duties, which includes an endless array of photo ops and a wide variety of interviews. Beginning at 8:15 tonight, all the hype and talk stops as the stopwatches are activated and everyone officially puts the offseason in the rear-view mirror.
