ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins made a minor league trade on Thursday.
The Blues acquired forward Corey Andonovski from the Penguins for forward Mathias Laferriere.
Andonovski, 25, has played in 27 games for the American Hockey League’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season and had five points (three goals, two assists); he has 54 points (18 goals, 36 assists) in 157 career AHL regular-season games and will report to Springfield of the AHL.
The 24-year-old Laferriere, a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, had 70 points (21 goals, 49 assists) in 207 career AHL regular-season games. He had been in Blues training camp on multiple occasions but could never push forward and crack the NHL lineup.
Laferriere played in 33 games with the Thunderbirds this season with 10 points (two goals, eight assists), but with an influx of younger players and prospects coming into the Thunderbirds lineup, it was becoming apparent that his playing time was slowly dissipating.
