The First Coast has a new resident: Ludvig Åberg, winner of last week’s PGA Tour Genesis Invitational, the Tour’s FedEx Cup and earnings leader and the No. 4-ranked player in the world.
Åberg, a former Texas Tech player and a native of Sweden, had been living in Tallahassee since his rookie season in 2023 when he won the RSM Classic on the PGA Tour, won on the DP World Tour and went 2-2 in the Ryder Cup, including a doubles matches with Viktor Hovland in which they routed Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka 9 and 7.
Åberg earned his PGA Tour card by finishing first on the PGA Tour University rankings for college seniors. Although it took him nearly 14 months to win his second Tour title, he’s been banging on the door in big events, finishing solo second in the Masters and trying for ninth in The Players Championship and for 12th in the U.S. Open.
He also lost in a playoff to Luke List at the Sanderson Farms Championship in 2023.
