Sometimes goalkeepers are just simply possessed; and tonight it is Portland Timbers stopper James Pantemis who is seemingly under a spell.
The Canadian came into the season as the number two to Canada men’s national team goalkeeper Max Crepeau, but with the latter getting injured in training last week, Pantemis stepped in.
And against Nashville SC Saturday evening, Pantemis is perhaps proving to head coach Phil Neville that he should be in the conversation for the starting role.
The 28-year-old made not one, but two penalty saves in the opening 17 minutes at Geodis Park. Getting his gloves to attempts from Hany Mukhtar and Sam Surridge respectively.
And Pantemis saves Surridge!!! This is unreal!!!!

Pantemis saving two penalties and Portland’s blushes. Nashville should be running away with this.

The keeper has given his side a lifeline, but will they reach out and grab it?
