Even before he officially retired from football in January, there was a feeling that Garteh Bale was going to be one of those players who didn’t miss the pitch too much. Yet in recent weeks Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been trying to persuade him to return to Wrexham FC.
The Hollywood stars and owners of the club that recently sealed their promotion to League Two already managed to bring Ben Foster back from retirement last March. But it doesn’t look like it’s going to work with Bale.
“I don’t think so. I was more looking for a free round of golf off Rob [McElhenney],” the former Welsh footballer joked at an awards ceremony. Now regaining some seriousness, Bale said he was doing very well where he is: “Spending time with my kids and my wife. It’s time I’ve missed out on for many years, being committed to football.”
