Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid briefed reporters on Friday afternoon following their final practice session of the week.
He provided a brief injury update that included a new player, who was absent from practice with an illness.
“Really, the only one that didn’t practice was Justin Watson,” Reid said. “He’s sick. Everybody else went through this (and) did a nice job with it. Really, all week.”
Asked about how Mahomes looked after three full practice sessions and whether he’d be “full-go” for the game, Reid confirmed what has been expected all week long. Mahomes will play on Sunday.
“Yeah, no he looks good,” Reid said of Mahomes. “Yeah.”
Asked about his comfort level with Mahomes’ mobility, Reid said he moved around well in practice.
“Yeah, he looks good,” Reid said. “He’s moving around good. I think he’ll go out and play.”
Earlier in the practice week, Reid said that TE Jody Fortson could be activated to the 53-man roster for the AFC title game. He said that’s still a possibility, but he’s going to have to get with Brett Veach to figure out the numbers situation on the roster.
“Potentially, yeah, he is,” Reid said. “We just have to see how everything goes here. That we have the numbers there.”
On Mecole Hardman, Reid was still tentative about his status heading into the game. Whether he’s active or not could simply come down to how he feels on Sunday.
“Listen, he’s worked his tail off,” Reid said of Hardman. “I think he’s feeling better than he did last week. But we’ll see. He’s (been) practicing.”
