Giants announce Putila won’t return as general manager under Posey originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Giants made a change to the second most important position in the front office.
Just one day after the team fired Farhan Zaidi as as president of baseball operations and named Buster Posey as his replacement, San Francisco parted ways with Pete Putila as general manager, Posey announced at his introductory press conference on Tuesday at Oracle Park.
Putila was named the general manager under Zaidi almost two years ago and has kept a relatively low public profile over the last two seasons.
And on Tuesday, under new leadership, the organization decided to go in a new direction.
Posey, who has no prior front-office experience, is expected to lean heavily on those around him as he navigates his new role.
And that will include his new general manager.
