Following their loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon, the Mets announced that 13 players (six pitchers, seven position players) have been re-assigned to minor league camp.
Those 13 players are:
RHP Ty Adcock
RHP Adbert Alzolay
RHP Dom Hamel
RHP Oliver Ortega
RHP Brandon Sproat
RHP Blade Tidwell
INF Ryan Clifford
OF Drew Gilbert
OF Rafael Ortega
C Kevin Parada
OF Alex Ramirez
INF Luke Ritter
INF Jett Williams
There are no real surprises on the list. Pitchers like Sproat (2.0 innings, 0.00 ERA) and Hamel (3.0 innings, 0 earned runs) performed well in game action with the big league club, but there was little to no chance of either making the Opening Day roster.
Sproat will likely make his big league debut at some point in 2025, but even with injuries to starters Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas, Sproat always seemed destined to begin the year with Triple-A Syracuse.
The same goes for highly touted position player prospects like Williams (.585 OPS in six games) and Clifford (.455 OPS in six games), who gained some valuable experience in major league camp.
Of note, infielders Brett Baty and Luisangel Acuña remain with the big league club, as both appear to be vying for bench roles on the Mets’ 26-man active roster.
