Wednesday’s matchup between the Mets and Yankees was stopped due to torrential rain in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Mets announced the game will resume at approximately 10:10 p.m.
At the time of the delay, the Mets were up 4-0 with men on second and third and one out. The Mets got out to an early lead in the third inning when J.D. Martinez hit an RBI single and Francisco Alvarez capped off the three-run inning with a two-run shot over the right-center field wall.
In the fifth, Alvarez struck again with an RBI double over the head of Juan Soto in right field, allowing Brandon Nimmo to score. At the time of the delay, Alvarez is 2-for-2 with three RBI and a walk.
Yankees starter Luis Gil just did not have it on Wednesday. He went 4.1 innings and gave up four runs on four hits, four walks while striking out just two batters.
