While only one of them can take home the AL MVP, both Aaron Judge and Juan Soto took home 2024 Silver Slugger Awards for outfielders on Tuesday.
Both Yankees outfielders were relative locks to win after they both finished career seasons.
Judge, although he didn’t reach the home run heights of a couple of years ago, he still smashed 58 dinners while driving in 144 runs, stealing 10 bases and hitting .322 with a, 1.159 OPS. It’s Judge’s fourth Silver Slugger award and the third in the last four years.
Soto had his best offensive season in his first year in pinstripes. The right fielder hit a career-high 41 homers while driving in 109 runs and hitting .288. He also had 166 hits and had a .989 OPS. This is the fifth time Soto has won the award, and the fifth straight year he has been honored.
Gleyber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton were also finalists for the 2024 Silver Sluggers for second basemen and designated hitters, respectively. However, the Astros’ Jose Altuve won his seventh Silver Slugger award for American League second baseman while the Athletics’ Brent Rooker took home his first.
The Yankees, as a team, won named American League offensive team of the year after being first in home runs (237) and in runs batted in (782) while being fourth in batting average (.248) and hits (1.352).
