Per Begley, the Nets and Raptors discussed the possibility of a Fred VanVleet trade before the Kyrie Irving deal to the Dallas Mavericks became official.
Before dealing Irving, the Nets spoke to the Atlanta Hawks about a possible John Collins deal.
Meanwhile, multiple teams have spoken to the Nets about Joe Harris, with Brooklyn also taking calls on Patty Mills.

The Los Angeles Clippers have entered the Kyrie Irving sweepstakes, reportedly joining the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Kyrie Irving reportedly requested a trade from the Nets after negotiations broke down.
According to TNT’s Chris Haynes, Irving’s camp did not negotiate a potential contract extension with the Nets after the team presented him with an offer that was tied to winning the championship this season.
It’s said that even if the Nets offered a full max contract, Irving won’t take it, per Haynes.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Phoenix Suns join the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks as the interested parties in trading for the All-Star guard.
