How long is Stephen Curry out? Leg injury timeline, return updates on Warriors star

The Warriors have run into another setback as they work to turn their season around.

Stephen Curry, who has already missed extended time this season with an injury, left Golden State’s Feb. 4 win over Dallas with a left leg injury. The Warriors’ ability to continue to rise in the West standings largely depends on the severity of Curry’s injury.

What is Stephen Curry’s injury?

Curry exited the Warriors’ victory over the Mavericks on Feb. 4 with a left leg injury. Golden State did not specify but did indicate that it was a lower leg injury and that X-rays were negative.

Curry suffered the injury late in the third quarter after contact with Mavericks guard McKinley Wright IV. While it initially appeared as though the players bumped knees, the injury was sustained to Curry’s lower left leg.

As noted by The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, Curry initially suffered a lower left leg injury on Thursday in Denver. On Saturday, Curry was wearing extra padding on the apparent area that was affected by the collision on Saturday.

How long will Stephen Curry be out?

Potential time missed largely depends on the severity of Curry’s injury. 

Following the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said “any time a guy gets an MRI there’s a concern level. We’ll just have to wait and see,” regarding Curry’s injury.

Golden State has five games remaining until the All-Star break.
