No. 1 Kansas and Michigan State will tip off the 2024 Champions Classic in style Tuesday night inside State Farm Arena in Atlanta as the first of a doubleheader for one of college basketball’s best events of the season. The matchup pits Hall of Fame Jayhawks coach Bill Self against a fellow Hall of Fame coach in Michigan State’s Tom Izzo, with Izzo’s Spartans positioned to play as they often do best: as an underdog.
Michigan State did not enter the season inside the AP Top 25 but both Sparty and KU enter the evening with a 2-0 record having won two games on their respective home courts. The neutral site should be a nice change of scenery and serve as another measuring stick for Kansas as well as unranked — and perhaps underrated — Michigan State.
