Knicks reserve center Ariel Hukporti will be out for several weeks with a suspected torn meniscus, according to SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the injury, which Hukporti sustained when making the first start of his NBA career on Wednesday night.
The rookie has impressed in the reserve role, winning playing time in the absence of Mitchell Robinson, who is progressing toward a return in the coming days.
Hukporti has appeared in 25 games this season, averaging 1.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game.
He scored eight points (4-for-5 from the floor) and added two rebounds in 16 minutes in his lone start of the season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.
