The Knicks and Landry Shamet have agreed to a deal that returns the veteran guard to New York after a two-month hiatus, his agent told SNY’s Ian Begley on Sunday.
In a corresponding move, the Knicks waived forward Matt Ryan.
Shamet originally signed with the Knicks on Sept. 14, but he was waived a month later after he dislocated his shoulder in a preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets.
The 27-year-old impressed with an average of 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 22.1 minutes in his four preseason appearances.
Shamet was expected to begin the season in the rotation, which is why New York decided to select him in the G League Draft so that he could continue his rehab with the organization.
Now that he’s back, Begley notes that prominent Knicks people feel he can help bolster the bench unit.
