The stage is set and all eyes are on Lakers superstar LeBron James as he is on the doorstep of history.
James, who is averaging 30.0 points per game in his 20th NBA season, enters Tuesday night’s game against the Thunder just 36 points away from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
“It’s still mind-boggling to myself … I’ve never said I wanted to lead the league in scoring or, for sure, never said I wanted to be the all-time leader in scoring,” James said to ESPN’s Michael Wilbon in the lead-up to Tuesday’s game. “For me to be in the company with such a prominent, dominant force like Kareem was, it’s an honor.”
Abdul-Jabbar will be in attendance as James looks to re-write the history books while leading the Lakers to a much-needed win. The Sporting News has you covered with live score and stat updates on what could be a historic night for James and the NBA.
