Welsh middleweight Kyran Jones has been forced to withdraw from his highly-anticipated Celtic title fight, which was scheduled for Saturday, 1 March.
The 27-year-old from Newport was set to face Scottish fighter Paul Kean for the vacant Celtic middleweight title at the Vale Arena in Cardiff.
In an announcement on Instagram, the undefeated fighter explained that injury had hindered his ability to train, prompting the decision to postpone the bout.
“Unfortunately, a decision has been made to postpone my Celtic title fight, ” Jones wrote.
“Injuries have forced me out of the gym, meaning I haven’t been able to prepare to my usual standard.”
Jones’ most recent victory came in November 2024, when he defeated Italian fighter Elliot Eboigbe.
The Welshman reassured fans that a rescheduled fight date would be announced “very soon”.
The postponement has come as a blow to both Jones and the Welsh boxing scene, but the fighter remains hopeful of a swift recovery and a return to the ring in the near future.
