Marvel Rivals is tweaking things in season one, with the addition of new characters and maps coming alongside adjustments to existing characters—some of which have provided boosts, while others have reduced a character’s strength.
With the staggering roster of characters now increasing to 35, with two more to come later in the season, fine-tuning and balancing in Marvel Rivals will play an important role. The start of season one, however, is the first time such adjustments have been introduced to the playerbase.
Though full details of the changes are yet to be published, players have started to identify some of the changes from ongoing early-access streams. We’ve collected them all here and you can use the table of contents below to jump to specific characters.
All Marvel Rivals season one buffs
Black Widow
- Increased the range of the first effect of Edge Dancer from a three-meter radius to a five-meter radius.
- Reduced the time required for Fleet Foot to recover from zero stamina to full from 12 seconds to four seconds.
- Reduced the time required for Electro-Plasma Explosion (ultimate ability) to reach maximum power from one second to 0.6 seconds.
Captain America
Captain America is one of two Vanguards to receive a significant buff in season one, along with Venom. Increased based health and reduced cooldown on the Liberty Dash ability should increase Captain America’s effectiveness.
- Base health increased to 675, up from 650.
- Liberty Dash cooldown reduced to 10 seconds, down from 12.
- Movement speed increased while using Ultimate ability.
Cloak and Dagger
While Cloak and Dagger have been popular in season zero, they have now been buffed to align better with the likes of Mantis and Luna Snow—especially with a boost to the ultimate ability, which now has four dashes upon use, and increased switch times between each form.
- Reduced Dagger Storm cooldown from 15s to 12s.
- Increased the number of dashes in Eternal Bond (ultimate ability) from three to four.
Jeff the Land Shark
- Adjusted It’s Jeff! (ultimate ability) range from a 10-meter sphere to a 10-meter radius, five meter high cylindrical spell field.
- Increase the healing of Joyful Splash from 140/s to 150/s.
Magik
- Increased Umbral Incursion damage in Darkchild form from 115 to 135.
Moon Knight
- Increased the number of talons generated by Hand of Khonshu (ultimate ability) from 10 to 14.
- Increased the explosion radius of each talon from four meters to five meters.
Namor
- Adjusted the throwing feel of Monstro Spawn and Frozen Spawn. Now, Namor can more accurately throw them to the desired location.
The Punisher
- Slightly reduced the spread of Deliverance and Adjudication.
Rocket Raccoon
- Increased the healing of Repair Mode from 60 per second to 70 per second.
Scarlet Witch
- Increased Chaos Control’s fixed damage from 50/s to 60/s.
- Reduced the percentage damage per second from five percent to three percent.
- Increased Chthonian Burst’s projectile damage from 30 to 35.
Storm
Storm has been underutilized in Marvel Rivals throughout season zero, with the changes aimed at increasing her usability—specifically with major boosts to damage, reducing the amount of hits it takes to eliminate an enemy, and improving the Team-Up ability with Thor.
- Increased Wind Blade projectile speed from 100m/s to 150m/s and left-click damage from 50 to 55.
- Increased Bolt Rush damage from 70 to 80.
- After releasing Omega Hurricane (ultimate ability), the bonus health provided for herself will be increased from 350 to 450. Moreover, following its conclusion, the extra health will no longer vanish instantly but will instead diminish at a rate of 100 per second.
Squirrel Girl
- Addition of a new effect to the Unbeatable Squirrel Tsunami (ultimate ability): The squirrels will rush towards the nearest enemy after bouncing instead of bouncing randomly.
- Reduced the squirrel tsunami health from 600 to 300.
Thor
- Increased base health from 500 to 525.
- Added immunity to control effects during God of Thunder (ultimate ability).
Venom
Venom has been effective in season zero, though not as useful as other Vanguards like Doctor Strange and Hulk. Venom’s ultimate ability now deals increased damage, while the slow on enemies when using Cellular Corrosion has also been increased.
- Increased the Symbiotic Resilience bonus health ratio gained per lost health point from 1 to 1.2.
- Increased the base damage of Feast of the Abyss (ultimate ability) from 40 to 50.
Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier has received small buffs for season one, with slight increases to base health and 40 bonus health being granted from the Ceaseless Charge passive ability.
- Increased the bonus health provided by Bionic Hook and Tainted Voltage from 30 to 40.
- Increased Roterstern’s projectile damage from 70 to 75.
- Reduced the area damage from 70 to 65 and reduce damage decay from 65 percent at 40 meters to 60 percent.
- Increased base health from 250 to 275.
Wolverine
Wolverine’s base health has been increased for season one, the only change spotted by players so far.
- Increased health to 350, up from 300.
- Reduced the damage reduction ratio provided by Undying Animal from 50 percent to 40 percent.
All Marvel Rivals season one nerfs
Black Panther
- Reduced the additional health provided to self after refreshing Vibranium Marks with Spirit Rend from 40 to 30, and the upper limit of additional health provided from 120 to 75.
Doctor Strange
- Added damage falloff to Maelstrom of Madness and Gamma Maelstrom, starting at five meters and reducing to 70 percent at eight meters.
- Slightly decreased the shield value recovery rate after releasing Shield of the Seraphim from 80/s to 70/s.
Hawkeye
Hawkeye has been extremely effective throughout season zero in Marvel Rivals and the nerfs target his ability to quickfire. While the early signs seem to indicate his base damage has not been reduced beyond the lowering of the seasonal boost, a slower charge rate for attacks will likely have an impact.
- Slightly reduced the spread angle between every two Blast Arrows.
- Reduced the triggering distance of passive ability Archer’s Focus from 60 meters to 40 meters. Reduced the maximum additional damage of the passive from 80 to 70.
Hela
- Base health reduced to 250, down from 275.
Hulk
- Reduced the Indestructible Guard gamma shield value for Hero Hulk from 250 to 200.
Luna Snow
- Increased the interval for switching between healing and damage in Fate of Both Worlds from 0.1 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
Mantis
- Reduced Nature’s Favor (passive) movement boost from 2.5 meter per second to 1.5 meters per second.
Psylocke
- Dance of the Butterfly (ultimate ability) will check for barriers (including Magneto’s Metal Bulwark, Hulk’s Indestructible Guard, etc.).
